Description

A structural engineering simulator with a real finite-element solver. Design bridges, roofs, towers and cranes in steel, timber and concrete, load them and read the stresses: blue is compression, orange is tension. Get it wrong and it buckles, yields and collapses.

Every bar is a real structural member with a real cross-section. It carries load in tension or compression, buckles when it is too slender and yields before it breaks. When a structure fails, the collapse is simulated with nonlinear dynamics, so you see which member gave up first, and why.

Features

The story

About ten years ago, a university bridge club ran bridge-building competitions, and one of its members, a civil engineering student, wanted a game that shows the real forces inside a bridge. FEAT started there. By 2016, students at Wrocław University of Science and Technology used it for their Virtual Bridge Competition, and tens of thousands of people played it on Google Play.

In 2018 it was posted on Reddit, and one of the top comments asked: “I already own Polybridge, so why would I buy this?” Fair question. In 2026 the developer came back and rebuilt FEAT from scratch around a real finite-element solver, written in Rust and running in the browser. In FEAT, concrete is strong when you squeeze it and weak when you stretch it, and long, thin bars buckle, the way they do in real structures.
